You will, of course, need to pre-download maps for offline use. In the Google Maps app, search for the location maps you want to download. If you tap the name of the location on the bottom of the screen , it will expand to take up the full screen and give you additional information.

The Maps icon looks like a tiny map with a red location pin on it. You can find it on your Apps menu. Tap the search bar at the top. Search and find the location you want to download. Type the location into the search, and select it from the results below the search bar.
